Securing patient safety: Patient safety is the most important aspect of hospital security. For that it is absolutely necessary for the security to prevent unwanted visitors or visitors beyond visiting time. Any negligence on behalf of the hospital will result in a public relations fiasco.
The visitor’s entry should be maintained within a strict time frame. The security guard must also check the visitor information before allowing them in patient ward sections. This ensures that the patient is only visited by a true relative or a well-wisher.
Preventing crowds being violent: Crowds get agitated over loss of patient or relative. Doctors and hospital staff members are attacked. Crowds can also cause damage to the premises. There are instances where doctors have been attacked by mobs due to some misconception.
A strong security force is necessary to prevent such mishaps and also ensure that the patient and the hospital staff are both safe.
Safety of supplies: Ensuring supplies are in stock, it has been reported that much of the financial loss occurs due to the loss of resources. The loss of supplies can lead to black marketing and also cause a public relations issue for hospitals.
Checking the employees when they exit or at least keeping an eye on the supply room will help ensure that the supplies do not go missing. This helps in reducing the overall costs for the hospital and ensures that there is plenty of supplies to cater to an emergency.
